WASHINGTON — Jeanine Rodgers Caruso, president of Syracuse, N.Y.-based Fiscal Advisors & Marketing Inc., is the new president of the board of the National Association of Independent Public Finance Advisors, the group announced Tuesday.

She was elected to the post for two years earlier this month. Other newly elected executive officers include vice president Terri Heaton, senior vice president at Springsted Inc., secretary Bruce Kimmel, vice president and senior financial advisor in, at Ehlers Inc. in Roseville, Minn. and treasurer Michael Sudsina, a principal at Sudsina & Associates LLC, which has offices in Aurora, Ohio and Okatie, S.C.

The group also elected new board members Robert J. Bendzinski, president of Detroit-based Bendzinski & Co. and Shelley J. Aronson, president of Ann Arbor, Mich.-based First River Advisory LLC.

The board members were elected at NAIPFA's annual meeting earlier this month in Alexandria, Va. Their terms expire at the annual meeting in October 2014.

Caruso, who was previously board vice president, succeeds outgoing NAIPFA president Colette Irwin-Knott, a partner at H. J. Umbaugh & Associates.

Caruso has more than 24 years of experience in municipal finance. Prior to joining Fiscal Advisors, she was associate vice president of investment banking at First Albany Corp. and senior bond analyst at Moody's Investors Services Inc., according to NAIPFA.

In the new post, she plans to help members understand new regulations and pass their municipal advisor exams. "Equally important is the need to grow our membership to become the preeminent organization for municipal advisors," she said in a release.
