Treasury's John Cross Named Head of SEC New Muni Office

WASHINGTON  - The Securities and Exchange Commission has named John J. Cross, 3rd, the head of its Office of Municipal Securities.

Cross has been serving as the associate tax legislative counsel in the Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy.

"I am thrilled that someone of John's stature and expertise and leadership is going to head the commission's muni program and I can't wait to work with him even more closely than we have before," said SEC Commissioner Elisse Walter, who spearheaded the commission's efforts to release a long-awaited report on the muni market this week that made at least 15 major recommendations for legislative and regulatory changes to improve disclosure and price transparency.
