LOS ANGELES — Pacifica Law Group, a recently formed public finance firm in Seattle, announced two prominent industry lawyers have joined its team.
Jay Reich, a former deputy chief of staff to Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, and Edward “Mac” McCullough, a tax attorney formerly with K&L Gates, have moved to the Northwest firm.
In April, six former partners at K&L Gates left to form Pacifica. The firm provides a range of public finance legal services, from bond counsel to litigation.
Before joining President Obama’s administration, Reich was a partner in the Seattle office of K&L Gates and previously was chairman of the public finance department at its predecessor firm, Preston Gates & Ellis.
McCullough has 30 years dealing with tax issues related to public finance, including 23 years in Virginia, New York, and Washington, D.C. He is a fellow of the American College of Bond Counsel.
Pacifica also recently hired one public finance associate and four litigation associates.
K&L Gates, with almost 2,000 lawyers in 37 offices around the world, was the second-ranked bond counsel firm by volume in Washington State during 2010, according to Thomson Reuters, and was top-ranked in Oregon and Alaska.
