Time for SAGE Reflections

Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons signed an executive order Wednesday to initiate a review of state government practices.

The Spending and Government Efficiency Commission, known as SAGE, is charged with making recommendations to streamline operations, improve customer service, and maximize the use of taxpayer dollars.

“My plan is to tap the best business minds in the state to assess our operations, identify excess spending, and make immediate and long-term recommendations I will be able to use to improve state government,” Gibbons said.

The governor will directly appoint six of the 12 members of the commission, and choose the remaining six from a list of recommendations submitted by lawmakers. The first meeting is expected by July 1.
