Pinsky Now EDC President

Mayor Michael Bloomberg last week promoted New York City Economic Development Corp. vice president Seth Pinsky to president.

Pinsky, who has worked for the EDC since 2003, was confirmed by the EDC board last week and replaced Robert Lieber, who stepped down in December to become deputy mayor for economic development. EDC presidents have served as chairmen of the New York City Industrial Development Agency, but that requires an additional appointment by the mayor that has not been made as of yet.

“Seth Pinsky has a great blend of public and private sector experience, including nearly five years at EDC working on some of its most important projects,” Bloomberg said in a press release.

At the EDC Pinsky worked on financings for some of the city’s major projects and has been involved with several large projects that have used or are expected to use bond financing, including the new Yankee and Mets stadiums, Hudson Yards, Atlantic Yards, and Queens West.

The EDC together the IDA are the city’s primary vehicles for implementing the mayor’s economic development strategy.

Prior to joining the EDC, Pinsky was an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton LLP and worked as a financial analyst in mergers and acquisitions at James D. Wolfensohn Inc. Pinsky earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his law degree from Harvard.
