Jobless Claims Fall 14,000 To 529,000 in Nov. 22 Week

WASHINGTON — Initial unemployment claims fell back 14,000 to 529,000 in the Nov. 22 week, when all states were able to report without having to estimate, the Labor Department reported Wednesday.

Expectations in a Market News International survey had centered on 540,000 seasonally adjusted initial claims in the week ended Nov. 22, ranging from 500,000 to 557,000.

After rising above the 4.0 million mark in the week ended Nov. 8, the level of continuing claims fell back 54,000 to 3.962 million in the Nov. 15 week.
