Ziegler Adds Three Investment Bankers

Ziegler is expanding its investment banking team with the addition of three senior-living finance bankers from BB&T Capital Markets.

The firm has added Tommy Brewer as managing director, Brandon Powell as director and Adam Garcia as vice president. The three will be joining the firm's Richmond, Virginia office, which also houses Ziegler's wealth management division.

"We are very excited about joining the Ziegler team. We believe that the underwriting and banking platform at Ziegler as well as their dedication to the senior living market will provide great value to the clients and communities we serve," Brewer said.

Dan Hermann, senior managing director and head of investment banking at Ziegler said in a press release that the addition, "is a significant leap forward for our senior-living practice in the Southeast and Gulf Coast states, as they have a long track record of successfully capturing, structuring and executing complex transactions while establishing themselves as deeply trusted advisors among their clients."

With over than 25-years of senior living and healthcare experience, Brewer will be covering the Southeast states. He will be working alongside director Tad Melton, and Mike Kelly, a managing director based in Virginia and Florida.

"Having competed with Mr. Brewer, Mr. Powell and Mr. Garcia for years, we fully understand and appreciate the depth of their creative capabilities and the strength of their professional relationships throughout the senior living industry," Kelly said. "We are all thrilled to have them as part of the Ziegler team."

Powell, with more than 17 years of experience as an investment banker, will be focusing on the Gulf Coast states. He will be working with Rich Scanlon, managing director, based in Ziegler's St. Petersburg, Florida office.

Garcia, who has about six years of healthcare experience, will handle, "executing senior living bond transactions, performing credit and quantitative analysis, debt structure evaluation, legal document review and preparation of marketing materials for clients."

Before serving as the managing director in investment banking at BB&T, Brewer worked at UBS PaineWebber for three years and First Union Securities, Inc. for two years.

Prior to joining BB&T, Powell spent seven years at Wells Fargo Securities and UBS as an investment banker.

Garcia formerly worked in BB&T's corporate banking group, before joining the firm's the healthcare finance group.
