WASHINGTON - Sales of merchant wholesalers were up 0.6% to $407.9 billion in November, following a revised 0.8% gain the previous month, while inventories were up 0.1% to $468.9 billion, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday.
November sales were 11.3% above the November 2010 level.
The 0.6% gain in sales matched the 0.6% increase projected by economists polled by Thomson Reuters.
Inventories posted a revised 1.2% gain in October.
The November level of inventories was 10.5% above the November 2010 level.
The 0.1% gain for November 2011 was lower than the median 0.4% increase estimated by economists polled by Thomson.
The November inventories/sales ratio was 1.15, the same as in October, but slightly lower than the 1.16 ratio a year ago.
