National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust CIO and CEO Catherine Lynch has been appointed to the New York State Common Retirement Fund’s Investment Advisory Committee, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said.
Lynch, who has headed the more than $25 billion Trust since 2008, is the newest addition to the Committee that includes leaders from the Smithsonian Institution, Ripplewood Holdings and the CFA Institute. The Committee is chaired by Wale Adeosun, CEO and CIO at Kuramo Capital Management.
The nine-member ruling body “reviews asset allocation and investment strategies” and offers advice and recommendations to DiNapoli, CRF’s sole trustee.
“IAC plays an important oversight role in the investment process of the Common Retirement Fund, and I know that Catherine’s investment experience and training will be a valuable addition to the committee,” DiNapoli said in the press release.
The National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust was first organized in December 2001 when Congress passed the Railroad Retirement and Survivors’ Improvement Act. The measure created the Trust from assets from the Railroad Retirement Account. Its assets are now managed by the seven-member U.S. Railroad Retirement Board.
Prior to joining the Trust, Lynch was a associate VP for Treasury Management at George Washington University from 1999 to early 2003. She also spent five years overseeing the endowment and charitable trust of the Episcopal Church of America in New York.
