Uniform Income Tax Code Proposed for All Ohio Cities

A state representative from suburban Columbus said she is drafting legislation that would create a uniform income-tax code for all Ohio municipalities.

State Rep. Cheryl Grossman told local reporters that she wants to impose a uniform tax code on the more than 600 municipalities that collect income tax.

Gov. John Kasich has argued that the complexity of the income tax code across the state inhibits business growth.

Several high-profile business groups, including the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, support the move. Incomes taxes are a chief revenue source for many Ohio cities.

Grossman said she would push to have the bill passed before the end of the year, according to a report in Crain’s Cleveland Business.
