Treasury Strips Rise $5.028 Billion in April

NEW YORK – Newly issued Treasury securities held in stripped form increased about $5.028 billion in April to a total of $203.966 billion, the Bureau of the Public Debt reported this afternoon.

Through the Separate Trading of Registered Interest and Principal of Securities program, STRIPS, about $21.952 billion of Treasury securities were reconstituted in April, off about $5.993 billion from $27.946 billion in March.

Securities eligible for stripping totaled $7.429 trillion in April up about $5 billion from $7.424 trillion in March.

Some $7.225 trillion were held in unstripped form.

The STRIPS program allows investors to hold and trade the individual interest and principal components of eligible Treasury notes and bonds as separate securities.
