Newly issued Treasury securities held in stripped form decreased about $1.313 billion in August to a total of $212.661 billion, the Bureau of the Public Debt reported Friday.
Through the Separate Trading of Registered Interest and Principal of Securities program, STRIPS, about $12.367 billion of Treasury securities were reconstituted in August, down about $4.231 billion from $16.598 billion in July.
Securities eligible for stripping totaled $10.594 trillion in July down about $48 billion from $10.642 trillion in July.
Some $10.382 trillion were held in unstripped form.
The STRIPS program allows investors to hold and trade the individual interest and principal components of eligible Treasury notes and bonds as separate securities.
