Treasury Auctions 5-Yr Notes, 4-Wk Bills

The Treasury Department auctioned $35 billion of five-year notes Wednesday, with a 2 1/4% coupon, a 2.310% high yield, a price of 99.718283.

The bid-to-cover ratio was 2.32. Tenders at the high yield were allotted 44.97%. The median yield was 2.249%. The low yield was 2.000%. Tenders totaled $81,293,253,400, and the Treasury accepted $35,000,040,600, including $111,003,400 noncompetitive.

The Treasury also auctioned $35 billion of four-week bills at a 0.120% high yield, a price of 99.990667. The coupon equivalent was 0.122%. The bid-to-cover ratio was 3.24. Tenders at the high rate were allotted 77.89%. The median yield was 0.100%. The low yield was 0.020%. The bills have an issue date of May 28 and are due June 25.
