Track That Stimulus

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell last week launched a Web site that will allow residents to track how the state is using $16 billion of funds that it’s receiving through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Pennsylvanians can log on to www.Recovery.PA.gov to voice their recommendation as to how the federal stimulus money should be spent and monitor the distribution of the funds. In addition, the governor said he will appoint a chief accountability officer within two weeks that will work with government agencies to help utilize the federal stimulus dollars most effectively.

Of the state’s share of the stimulus, health care programs will gain $4 billion and education initiatives will receive $2.56 billion. Transportation projects throughout the state will benefit from a $1.4 billion infusion.
