WASHINGTON — The Bond Market Association’s Jill E. Hershey has been elevated to the position of senior vice president for legislative affairs in the group’s office here.
Hershey said yesterday that she would continue to handle tax legislative and advocacy issues for the association, as well as overseeing the office’s lobbying activities on Capitol Hill.
Hershey has been with TBMA for more than two years as a vice president for legislative affairs.
“Jill has made a tremendous contribution to the association’s mission since she joined us over two years ago,” executive vice president John R. Vogt said in a statement.
“In her new role she will expand her strategic and management responsibilities while continuing to represent the association before Congress,” said Vogt, who heads up TBMA’s office here.
Hershey will oversee the office’s two other government affairs staff members — Donna K. Alexander and Michael W. Williams — who cover legislation on taxation, securities regulation, bankruptcy and insolvency, derivatives, and pensions.
“I look forward to promoting public policy that will keep the cost of capital low for states and localities, businesses, home-buying families, the federal government, and everyone else who borrows in the bond markets,” Hershey said in a statement.
Before joining TBMA, Hershey worked as director of tax policy for Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa.
