The Alabama Legislature’s annual session came to an end Monday night without an education budget when the Senate was unable to strike a deal over college and university spending.

Gov. Bob Riley said he may call the Legislature into special session before June, but he is expected to wait until key lawmakers reach an agreement on the education budget before announcing a date for the session.
