Title: Senior Managing Consultant
Firm: PFM Financial Advisors LLC
Age: 30
Driven by an interest in learning more about the inequalities that exist across different communities and how that correlates to finance, Sarah Good was drawn to municipal finance shortly after graduating from Gettysburg College.
"I was a sociology major in college and didn't expect to go into finance, but I learned early on how finance around housing, education and healthcare impacts communities. Public finance was a great way to combine my passion for finance and community inequalities," says Sarah, a senior managing consultant with PFM Financial Advisors.
Sarah joined PFM in 2019 and has distinguished herself in the Structured Products Group (SPG). Based in New York, she specializes in investing municipal bond proceeds, advising a broad range of public-sector clients.
She works closely with financing teams and tax counsel from the earliest stages of a deal, proactively identifying opportunities that go well beyond standard execution.
Her client-focused approach combined with capital markets knowledge ensures that every recommendation is tailored to the specific needs and risk tolerance of each issuer. This is what Sarah likes most about her job.
"I like being the trusted advisor to our clients. We don't give a cookie cutter solution. We recognize all issuers have different backgrounds and needs," says Sarah. "I like the tangible results. When we help a school district invest and we see what they are going to earn from that investment in comparison to what they would have earned, I know that's another teacher's salary or more supplies for the students. It matters."
Beyond her client work, Sarah is an active member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA). Sarah, who is getting married in the fall, is in the throes of wedding planning.
