Rhode Island Treasurer Names Chief Transparency Officer

Kerri Baker will serve as Rhode Island Treasury's chief transparency officer, state General Treasurer Seth Magaziner announced.

The position is part of a disclosure initiative Magaziner announced May 27. It includes new policies and tools that Magaziner said would enhance Rhode Islanders' access to state finances.

Baker previously served as associate finance director for the state treasury, overseeing the department's budget and procurement processes and managing the forecasting of departmental revenue. Before that, she was fiscal management and administrative officer for three years within Treasury's investment department, focusing on effecting best practices within cash management.

She started her career in customer service with Textron Financial Corp. in 2003, becoming senior financial analyst in Textron Inc.'s global corporate office in 2004.

Baker, a Providence College graduate, serves on the executive board of the Rhode Island Government Finance Officers Association.
