WASHINGTON — Retail sales increased by a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in March as sales excluding autos rose 0.8%, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday.
February retail sales were revised to a 1.1% increase and sales excluding autos were up a revised 1.1%.
Economists had expected that sales would increase 0.5% and sales excluding autos would increase 0.7%, according to the median estimate from Thomson Reuters.
