Relentless Revenue Slide

Oklahoma tax revenue fell in December for the 12th straight month, bringing the shortfall for the first six months of fiscal 2010 to $756.1 million.

Collections last month totaled $402.3 million, which was $179 million less than expected.

Treasurer Scott Meacham said officials were disappointed that revenue fell 30% below collections in December 2008.

“We were hopeful that revenues might begin to improve slightly,” he said. “Instead they continued their downward slide.”
