RBC Capital Markets hired David Utz, formerly of Goldman Sachs, as its managing director and head of its U.S. infrastructure team.

The team, which is within RBC’s investment banking unit, will allow Utz to work closely with the municipal finance business. He will report to Michael Casey and Paul McNutt, managing directors and co-heads of U.S. power, utilities & infrastructure. Utz was with Goldman for about 15 years.

“David Utz is a first-rate addition to the infrastructure financing capabilities of RBC,” said Chris Hamel, head of U.S. municipal finance at RBC, in announcing the hire late last week. “Our Municipal Finance group looks forward to partnering with David to enhance our client service in providing the full range of options available to them to advance their infrastructure plans. The U.S. is at an inflection point with respect to its underfunding of infrastructure with expanded client options as the likely policy outcome in the coming national debate.”
