Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossell- said that his government had agreed to a five day extension of the agreement with Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority creditors.

The agreement, known as the Restructuring Support Agreement or RSA, was set to end at midnight on Friday. The agreement includes the restructuring of the authority's debt, which as of July included $8.3 billion in bond debt.

In a tweet on Friday Rossell- confirmed a story in the El Vocero news website reporting that he was extending the agreement by five days.

Since at least March 21 the governor has been asking creditors to accept a substantially different deal from the one they had negotiated over the last 2.5 years. Until Rossell-'s actions this winter, all parties had been near to agreeing to the original deal.
