The University of Michigan's preliminary November consumer sentiment index reading was 91.6, compared to the final October 87.2 and the preliminary October 87.9, according to market sources.
The expectations index was 82.5, compared to the final October 76.8 and the preliminary October 76.6.
The current conditions index was 105.9, compared to the final October 103.2 and the preliminary October 105.5.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 87.5 reading for the main index, 77.3 for expectations and 103.4 for current conditions.
The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.4% in October, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.4% in October.
The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
