Philadelphia Fed Non-Mfg Index Rises to 20.9 in Dec.

The region's non-manufacturing sector "rose in December," as the general business conditions index soared to 20.9 from 10.6 in November, this month's Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Report on Business, released Tuesday, indicates.

At the company level, the general business activity index rose to 30.4 from 15.6.

The prices paid index was 16.9, up from 16.5 last month, new orders index grew to 21.6 from 12.6, sales or revenues climbed to 23.5 from 17.2, the unfilled orders index crept to 3.3 from 3.2, the inventories index jumped to 11.9 from 5.6, prices received decreased to 8.0 from 17.9, the number of full time employees index rose to 19.7 from 14.3, and the average employee workweek increased to 23.6 from 18.3.

The six months from now regional general business conditions index surged to 67.3 from 34.2, while the company general business conditions index spiked to 65.8 from 40.4.
