Paying for Paving

After two years of debate on how to finance transportation needs, voters in Hays County south of Austin will decide whether to issue $207 million of road bonds.

With voter approval, the county can use pass-through financing in which the Texas Department of Transportation reimburses local governments for their upfront costs on highway projects.

Voters in May 2007 rejected a bond package, forcing county commissioners to develop a new transportation plan.
