Oppenheimer & Co. is expanding its public finance team on the East Coast and in Illinois with the addition of four municipal finance veterans.
The firm has added Scott Gibson as executive director and Liz Schramek as director to the public finance department in Connecticut. Each has over 25 years of experience in investment banking and financial advisory for colleges, universities and healthcare organizations.
"With the arrival of Scott and Liz, Oppenheimer adds to our expertise in healthcare and higher education," John Rodstrom, the firm's head of public finance, said in a press release. "With their help we will continue to grow our platform and expand our client base across the country."
Raymond Coyne joins the firm as executive director and Ellen Cooper as a public finance associate in Chicago. The four will report to Rodstrom, who is based in the firm's Fort Lauderdale office.
"Ray and Ellen bring valuable experience to the Firm and we are pleased to welcome them to Oppenheimer," Robert Lowenthal, Oppenheimer's head of fixed income said in a press release.
The additions are part of Oppenheimer's continued efforts to expand its public finance team. Earlier this past January, Beth Wolchock was hired as the head of municipal underwriting and David Frank was added to the underwriting and trading department.
Oppenheimer is a top-50 underwriter that was senior manager in deals totaling $808.1 million in 2012, according to data from Thomson Reuters.
Previously, Gibson was a senior higher education and healthcare banker at RBC Capital Markets, while Schramek was a public finance investment banker at RBC.
Coyne is a long-time Chicago-based public finance banker who most recently worked at Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley & Co. and previously worked for the former Banc One Capital Markets and William Blair & Co. He served as a mayoral assistant in 1980 and did a stint as city comptroller.
Cooper was a public finance analyst at Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley.
