MSRB Plans Compliance Sessions With SIFMA, Web Seminar Series

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board plans later this year and next to host two compliance seminars with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, as well as a series of Web seminars on the board's market information programs.

The compliance seminars, which will provide an update on regulatory and compliance issues and a discussion of current market trends, will be held on Oct. 26 in New York City and Nov. 12 in Chicago, the board announced yesterday. Panelists will include staff from the MSRB, SIFMA, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, as well as representatives from the dealer, issuer, and investor communities, the board said. Pre-registration is required.

The Web seminars, which the board will host to help train market participants on using its muni disclosure and trade reporting systems, will begin later this month and run through January 2010, the MSRB said. All of them will be held at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and pre-registration is required, the board said.

The first seminars, on submitting continuing disclosure documents to the board's Electronic Municipal Market Access system, will take place on Sept. 29 and Dec. 3. The MSRB encouraged issuers, borrowers, and disclosure agents to attend the session.

Two levels of Web seminars on submitting trade data to the board's Real-Time Transaction Reporting System will be held Oct. 13 and 14, as well as Jan. 13 and 15. Level 1 sessions will be for new RTRS users while Level 2 sessions will be for existing users and will cover advanced topics such as error and special condition codes, the board said.

Other planned Web seminars include one on Oct. 15 on submitting short-term obligation rate data, two on Jan. 12 and 14, on submitting primary disclosure documents to EMMA, and two on Jan. 4 and 6 on MSRB gateway training.
