Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it raised its long-term rating and underlying rating to AA-minus from A-plus on Monroe, Mich.'s general obligation debt outstanding.
At the same time, it assigned its AA-minus long-term rating to the city's series 2014 limited-tax GO refunding bonds. The outlook is stable.
"The raised ratings reflect our view of the city's improved budgetary performance," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Kathryn Clayton.
