The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Report on Business declined to 51.23 in December from 54.11 in November, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee reported Friday.
New orders received dropped to 59.36 from 64.87, production grew to 60.00 from 53.16, employment decreased to 43.45 from 45.58, supplier deliveries gained to 56.52 from 55.23, and backlog of orders slumped to 53.33 from 62.00.
Inventory levels fell to 36.84 from 51.72, customers' inventories dropped to 33.33 from 47.73, prices rose to 66.67 from 50.00, exports slid to 50.00 from 52.78, and imports fell to 46.15 from 50.00.
The blue collar diffusion index grew to 51.5 from 51.3, while the white collar diffusion index decreased to 46.2 from 51.3.
