Milwaukee ISM Index Slid to 47.3 in April

The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Report on Business fell to 47.3 in April from 56.0 in March, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee reported Wednesday.

New orders received slumped to 40.4 from 60.9, production fell to 38.3 from 59.7, employment decreased to 52.1 from 54.5, supplier deliveries rose to 59.6 from 55.0, and backlog of orders dipped to 54.2 from 54.6.

Inventory levels slipped to 45.8 from 50.0, customers' inventories gained to 42.5 from 37.5, prices increased to 63.0 from 58.7, exports grew to 50.0 from 47.1 and imports slid to 52.6 from 55.9.

The blue collar diffusion index decreased to 48.3 from 54.5, while the white collar diffusion index fell to 52.1 from 56.6.
