Milwaukee ISM Index Rose to 56.0 in March

The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Report on Business rose to 56.0 in March from 48.6 in February, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee reported Monday.

New orders received surged to 60.9 from 41.6, production grew to 59.7 from 40.6, employment increased to 54.5 from 51.2, supplier deliveries slid to 55.0 from 61.9, and backlog of orders rose to 54.6 from 42.9.

Inventory levels climbed to 50.0 from 47.7, customers' inventories gained to 37.5 from 34.2, prices declined to 58.7 from 63.6, exports fell to 47.1 from 60.0 and imports grew to 55.9 from 50.0.

The blue collar diffusion index increased to 54.5 from 48.9, while the white collar diffusion index rose to 56.6 from 53.4.
