NEW YORK – The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Index climbed to 63 in February from 57 in January, according to the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee.
In February 2010, the index was 56.
New orders received rose to 73 from 64, production rose to 65 from 61, backlog surged to 64 from 50, and supplier lead times slipped to 28 from 29.
Blue collar employment dipped to 58 from 61, while white collar employment rose to 59 from 57. Inventory levels rose to 58 from 54, while capital equipment purchases rose to 65 from 61.
The prices paid index held at 73.
