SourceMedia, a B2B information and marketing solutions company focused on the financial services industry, announced the promotion of Michael Ballinger to Publisher of The Bond Buyer, the company’s flagship publication covering the U.S. municipal bond market.

In his new role, Ballinger will report to Harry Nikpour who was promoted to Vice President, Capital Markets. The promotions fill the vacancy created by the departure of Michael Stanton, who in November will join Build America Mutual (BAM), the bond insurance company, as Head of Corporate Strategy and Communications.

The new leadership team brings extensive experience in managing paid-subscription information resources, as well as in developing strategic marketing programs that serve client needs. These capabilities are well aligned with SourceMedia’s strategic focus on expanding digital and marketing solutions activities and growing subscription revenues.

Ballinger is a 25-year veteran of the municipal bond industry who served in senior roles at several bond insurance companies before joining The Bond Buyer as National Sales Manager in 2010.  In that role, he expanded the brand’s digital capabilities and launched numerous new products and innovative partnerships, including an annual report on “Trailblazing Women in Public Finance” in cooperation with the Northeast Women in Public Finance.
