March PPI Unchanged; Core Rate Increases 0.3%

WASHINGTON — The producer price index for finished goods was unchanged in March on a seasonally adjusted basis, the Labor Department reported Thursday. Core producer prices, excluding food and energy, were up 0.3%, after rising an unrevised 0.2% in February.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters projected a 0.3% rise in PPI, and a 0.2% gain in the core price index.

Year-over-year the overall PPI was up 2.8%. Core producer prices, year-over-year, were up 2.9%.
