Long Beach, N.Y., could issue a request for proposals by fall to operate its 38-year-old Long Beach Ice Arena, where the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers trained in the 1970s.

City Council President Len Torres told Newsday that the city will consider proposals from companies that want to manage the rink, buy its naming rights, or partner with Long Beach to renovate the facility.
