Jobless Claims Fall 50,000 To 352,000 in Jan. 14 Week

WASHINGTON — Seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims fell to 352,000 for the week ending Jan.14, a decrease of 50,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 402,000, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Continuing claims declined to 3.432 million for the week ending Jan. 7, a decrease of 215,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 3.647 million.

Initial claims were much lower than the median 385,000 that were projected by economists, while continuing claims were fewer than the median 3.610 million expected.
