January Construction Spending Rises 0.1%

Construction spending rose 0.1% in January, the Commerce Department said, 9.3% above the January 2013 level.

In December, construction spending rose a revised 1.5%, first reported as a 0.1% increase.

Spending on private construction rose 0.5% in the month, while public construction fell 0.8%.

Residential construction grew 1.1% and single-family housing gained 2.3% in the month.

Multi-family housing increased 1.0%.
