ISM Revises Manufacturing Index; Dec. to 56.5 from 57.0

The Institute for Supply Management revised its December manufacturing index to 56.5 from 57.0, as a result of annual seasonal adjustments, the group said Wednesday.

The adjustments did not impact the December non-manufacturing index, which remained 53.0

An index reading below 50 signals a slowing economy, while a level above 50 suggests expansion. A reading of 50 shows the sector was unchanged in the month.
