Initial Jobless Claims Grow 4,000 to 317,000 in Week Ended June 7

Initial jobless claims climbed 4,000 to 317,000 in the week ended June 7, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims for the week ended May 31 were revised to 313,000 from the 312,000 initially reported.

Continuing jobless claims were 2.614 million in the week ended May 31, up from the unrevised 2.603 million the week before.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected 310,000 initial and 2.595 million continuing claims.

The four-week average of initial claims was up 4,750 in the week ended June 7 to 315,250.
