Initial Jobless Claims Dip 6,000 to 312,000 in Week Ended June 14

Initial jobless claims slipped 6,000 to 312,000 in the week ended June 14, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims for the week ended June 7 were revised to 318,000 from the 317,000 initially reported.

Continuing jobless claims were 2.561 million in the week ended June 7, down from the revised 2.615 million the week before, initially reported as 2.614 million.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected 315,000 initial and 2.600 million continuing claims.

The four-week average of initial claims was down 3,750 in the week ended June 14 to 311,750.
