Initial Jobless Claims Dip 2,000 to 312,000 in Week Ended June 21

Initial jobless claims slipped 2,000 to 312,000 in the week ended June 21, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims for the week ended June 14 were revised to 314,000 from the 312,000 initially reported.

Continuing jobless claims were 2.571 million in the week ended June 14, up from the revised 2.559 million the week before, initially reported as 2.561 million.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected 310,000 initial and 2.600 million continuing claims.

The four-week average of initial claims was up 2,000 in the week ended June 21 to 314,250.
