Indy Official Goes Private

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard’s former chief of staff has joined Faegre Baker Daniels LLP.

Chris Cotterill will work as a partner in the government practice in the firm’s Indianapolis office, Faegre Baker said. He will focus on public-private partnerships, advising governments on their interactions with legislative and regulatory bodies, and on public finance transactions, the firm said.

“The addition of both Cotterill and former Evansville Mayor Jonathan D. Weinzapfel in April significantly increases the firm’s breadth and depth of state and local government, public finance and economic development expertise,” it said.

Cotterill worked at Barnes & Thornburg before joining Ballard’s administration. He also was corporation counsel for Indianapolis and Marion County.

Ryan Vaughn, Ballard’s new chief of staff, also joined the city from Barnes & Thornburg.
