Industrial production surged 0.6% in June, the Federal Reserve reported Friday.
The production increase followed a revised 0.3% drop in May, first reported as a 0.4% decline.
Capacity utilization gained to 75.4% in June from an unrevised 74.9% the previous month.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters projected a 0.2% gain for industrial production and a 75.0% capacity utilization rate.
