Household indebtedness grew to $11.85 trillion in the first quarter, up $24 billion from the fourth quarter of 2014, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Household Debt and Credit Report, released Tuesday.
In the fourth quarter, household debt rose $117 billion.
Aggregate debt is up seven consecutive quarters.
Outstanding household debt is 6.5% below the $12.68 trillion peak reached in the third quarter of 2008.
