HJ Sims expands Puerto Rico team with the hire of José Iván Acosta Jordán

HJ Sims has hired José Iván Acosta Jordán as Senior Vice President in its office in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

Sims established its first office in Puerto Rico in 2015 and has since expanded its team there. Last year, it moved its Guaynabo private client headquarters to a larger space in Metro Office Park.

Acosta Jordán has more than 30 years of financial services experience in San Juan. He brings experience in financial planning, investments and private banking.

Prior to joining Sims, Acosta Jordán was with Drexel Burnham Lambert, graduating from Shearson Lehman Brothers Financial Consultant course. He has also served as Senior Vice President in the Global Private Client Division of Merrill Lynch Private Wealth Management, where he staffed the office and participated on the President’s Council.

Acosta Jordán attended the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, where he played tennis on the NCAA Division I team. He graduated from University of the Sacred Heart, Santurce, with a BBA in finance and marketing. He holds his Series 7, 63, 65, fixed and variable insurance licenses.

Sims is an independently and privately held wealth-management firm and investment bank founded in 1935, and is headquartered in Fairfield, Conn.
