Governor Signs Big GO Bill

Gov. Bill Richardson last week signed off on a $223.8 million state capital projects general obligation bond package that will be decided by voters in November.

The governor signed SB 333, which provides for the state’s largest GO measure ever, in a ceremony at the University of New Mexico.

The comprehensive package includes $139.9 million for state colleges, universities, and special schools; $57.8 million for health care facilities; $14.7 million for senior citizen centers, and $11 million for public, school, and university library acquisitions.

“This will ensure that our colleges and universities remain on the forefront of technology and research and that we continue to build a highly skilled workforce and high-wage economy,” Richardson said at the ceremony. “I urge voters to support this investment in New Mexico’s future when they head to the polls this November.”
