Final Feb. U. of Mich. Index at 81.6 vs. 81.2 in Jan.

The University of Michigan's final February consumer sentiment index reading was 81.6, compared to the preliminary February 81.2, the final January 81.2, and the preliminary January 82.5, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 72.7, compared to 73.0 earlier in February, 71.2 in January, and 70.9 earlier in January.

The current conditions index was 95.4, compared to 94.0 earlier in February, 96.8 in January, and 95.2 earlier in January.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 81.2 reading for the main index, 94.0 for current conditions and 73.0 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.9%, compared to 2.9% in January, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.2%, compared to 3.1% in January.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
