Construction spending rose 0.1% in February, the Commerce Department said, 8.7% above the February 2013 level.
In January, construction spending slid a revised 0.2%, first reported as a 0.1% increase.
Spending on private construction rose 0.1% in the month, while public construction grew 0.1%.
Residential construction fell 0.8% and single-family housing dropped 1.1% in the month.
Multi-family housing increased 2.6%.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a 0.1% rise in construction.
