CHICAGO -- Former Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr is returning to Jones Day, the firm he worked at prior to ushering the city through the nation's largest municipal bankruptcy. Orr will resume work at the firm on May 1. He will be partner in its Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice and Partner-In-Charge of the firm's Washington DC office, according to a press release.
He is currently serving as a consultant to the emergency manager of Atlantic City, N.J.
Orr worked at Jones Day's Washington office for 12 years prior to being tapped by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to take over Detroit. Jones Day later became the city's lead attorney in the Chapter 9 case. It earned $58 million over the course of the roughly 18-month case.
