Employment Cost Index Rises 0.4% in 3d Quarter

WASHINGTON — The U.S. third-quarter employment cost index rose 0.4% for overall compensation costs to civilian workers, as expected by economists, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.

The index rose 1.5% for the 12-month period ending in September 2009.
